While carbon reporting for data center on-site emissions (Scope 1) and purchased energy (Scope 2) is fairly well understood, there is confusion regarding value chain emissions (Scope 3) and different viewpoints regarding the use of Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) to improve sustainability ratings.
