Datacenter Forum is set to host its ninth-annual Danish edition, Datacenter Forum Copenhagen, on 21 September 2023 at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia, while Solarplaza will host its annual event covering the Nordics, Solarplaza Summit Nordics, the week after on 28 September at the Copenhagen Marriott Hotel.
With investment in the Nordic data center ecosystem set to double by 2025, integrating sustainability into every aspect of a data center’s operations is imperative. This begins with its design and build and extends to the individual servers operating on racks.
Already, the Nordics have emerged as a premier hub for IT and cloud services. From political stability, great (inter)continental connectivity and infrastructure, a highly skilled workforce, and a naturally cool climate, the Nordics are positioned to become the sustainable digital backbone of Europe. Crucially, though, each country also has abundant supplies of renewable energy, which can be further augmented by expanding solar capacity (as aptly demonstrated by one data center operator in Finland), identifying better sites for solar generation, further developing innovative battery technologies, and facilitating new approaches to stabilizing electrical grids.
Yet, despite the growth in renewable capacity throughout the Nordics, solar energy still constitutes the smallest proportion of renewable capacity in the region. Addressing this challenge is precisely where Solarplaza shines.
