Dushyantha Goonawardhane's talk will explore how data centers are in the spotlight due to the industry's increasing use of the planet's finite amount of energy available. This means that there is increasing legislation on data center build and limited power availability in strategic locations. We as an industry need to think about ways of doing more with less, meaning provide more compute with less power. Technologies like liquid cooling are new and efficient, but using those technologies to cool low-density racks is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. We need to use a level of creativity like using technologies in hybrid form. Mixing liquid cooling with air cooling, and also taking advantage of some flexible architectures available today to make the most of the current and future edge facilities.
