Technical Workshop
On-site Low-carbon Power Generation for Data Centers
Identifying challenges, creating solutions and directing research
The 'On-site Power Generation for Data Centers' Steering Group has worked hard on a Concept Paper which is now published: click here to download
Every 30 minutes a new problem or challenge will be presented to the attendees, and the attendees will work in small groups to develop solutions. This workshop is free to attend and includes a complimentary drinks reception.
Brainstorming session 1)
Hydrogen fuel cells in data centers
This session will see delegates brainstorm the challenges, focus areas and solutions around introducing hydrogen fuel cells in data centers.
Brainstorming Session 2)
Integrating on-site solar and wind energy as supplementary sources of energy
This session will see delegates brainstorm the challenges, focus areas and solutions around introducing on-site solar and wind sources as supplementary forms of energy supply. This may include non-technical solutions such as adjustments to SLA’s etc.
Brainstorming session 3)
Data centers as suppliers of grid services
This session will see delegates brainstorm the challenges, focus areas and solutions around ensuring data centers can contribute profitably to the energy transition of the wider energy grid. This may also include non-technical solutions such as adjustments to SLA’s with the energy provider or wider utility.
Brainstorming session 4)
Recycling waste heat in data centers.
This session will see delegates brainstorm the challenges, focus areas and solutions around the re-use of energy in data centers, and the potential integration of data centers with heat grids.
