Delivering Resilient, Traceable & Trusted Time in Datacentres - Christian Farrow, Technical Services Manager Chronos Technology
With the need for precise time becoming ever more prevalent in all modern financial, business & communication systems, how does this drive the services that datacenter operators can offer to their clients? Typically end-customers have rolled their own solutions, deploying NTP & PTP primary clock servers with GNSS antennas installed on the roof ad-hoc. New technologies are allowing virtual Primary Reference Time Clock (vPRTC) network architectures to be built that can deliver resilient and traceable time with only a handful of nanoseconds error to UTC over whole regional areas. Bringing those services into the default offering of the datacenter (space, power, cooling + precise time!) not only unifies the service but brings reliable and traceable time to the end-user. Chronos’ unrivalled experience in supplying, installing and supporting time distribution systems can give a unique insight into the specific issues when deploying these services along with expert audit services to test, trace & measure performance to globally recognised standards.
Security – looking past the barriers - Ali Moinuddin, Managing Director Uptime Institute
Datacenter Owners and Operators are increasingly aware of the importance of their Digital Infrastructure to the Global Economy. To this end security is no longer just about Physical considerations, both Facilities and IT must look at their Digital and Cyber Security to protect themselves and their customers in the long-run
