The Big Debate: Data & Energy
- ✅ Trends, innovations in energy (-storage) and the impact of current events on the energy debate. How will volatile international energy markets impact the data center industry in the Nordics?
- ✅ Datacenter operators & energy suppliers join forces in the development of green energy projects. Is this the beginning of a beautiful friendship?
✅ Heat recovery: we want it, we know how to do it, so what is holding us back? A look at the succes stories & challenges. What are the opportunities & challenges in re-using excess heat from data centers?
The Business Case: A Circular Data Center Economy
✅ Life Cycle Assessment. By including the entirety of data centre’s life cycle, it is possible to keep track of where the main impacts stem from in the data center value chain. This will impact future data center design, build & operations in a way that everybody in the industry needs to understand.
✅ Embodied carbon. Energy usage isn't the only way that data centers can tackle their carbon footprint. Quite possibly it's not even the most important one. We take a close look at everything you need to about embodied carbon.
✅ Scope 3. How will (future) regulations and the EU circular economy action plan change the future design, build & operate data centers?

A holistic view on new concepts for Sustainable Energy management with focus on innovation, and the implementation of new technologies
Huawei is a leading Company within research and Development, and with leading technologies, it is important that all parties adapt “readiness to change” to implement new technologies such as Blockchain, AI and Energy storage to have the best possible usagt of available renewable energy sources, and create a symbiotic relationship in the Energy utilization for datacenters.
Vattenfall Power-as-a-Service, Make a profit of your equipment
Vattenfall Power-as-a-Service; a complete electrical solution for your Datacenter and how to make a profit of your own equipment.
What came first, the chicken or the egg?
Transferring data center design from the USA to Europe, the issues that might arrise and how to solve them.
Moving into the data centre of the future
Web 3.0, Metaverse and Industry 4.0 are placing increasing pressure on the DC infrastructure. Learn in this session how switch basics are evolving to power the next generation of DC architectures, and more importantly how the physical layer fiber optic cabling will need to respond.
Alastair joined CommScope in 2003, holding various key roles in the business. Since January 2016, he’s had responsibility for architecting CommScope’s data centre solutions for Europe, ensuring that customer’s infrastructures are positioned to grow as their operational needs expand.
The future of sustainable & scaleable data center UPS power
How to become sustainable, scalable and smart with a Data center power supply concept?
Modern UPS systems are expected to perform with alternatives for emergency energy storages and concepts for their utilisation, to meet BESS-/FESS- Inertia- and grid-support requirements. With increased Data center power demands, also the need for direct medium voltage supply is growing.
Frank Berner is responsible for the Piller Sales in the Nordic- and Baltic regions, Eastern Europe and Israel. He is with the company for more than 30 years and grew up in the UPS- and converter business on different positions for national and international Power supply projects.
Greenergy Data Centers, the largest and most energy-efficient in the Baltics – enabled by Siemens
Speaker: Kert Evert, Member of the Management Board of Greenergy Data Centers
The new Greenergy Data Center in Estonia is the largest and most energy efficient data center in the Baltic region. It runs on renewable energy and is the first of three such facilities, contributing to boosting the Baltic region’s e-commerce and digital societies.
Siemens Smart Infrastructure deployed an integrated building and power management software platform, which connects, controls and monitors critical and non-critical HVAC and power systems.
To ensure a reliable and safe power supply to the data center, Siemens Smart Infrastructure provided modular power distribution systems, from concept to delivery.
Improving data centre operational efficiency using DCIM, illustrated using customer reviews and case studies
Sunbird Software is changing the way data centres are being managed. With a focus on real user scenarios for real customer problems, we help data centre operators manage tasks and processes faster and more efficiently than ever before, while saving money and improving availability. Come and see how Data Centre Infrastructure Management software with inbuilt powerful monitoring and control, helps to reduce risk and increase efficiencies of people, process and technology.
Five Datacenter Predictions for 2022
The digital infrastructure sector is booming worldwide as the edge buildout progresses and organizations continue to adapt to the effects of the pandemic. But what emerging challenges lie ahead and what trends will define the coming year? This presentation will cover the Uptime Institute’s top five issues for 2022. These include sustainability reporting and the difficulty of achieving zero-carbon emissions, the uneven impacts of processor innovations, supply chain problems and the concentration risk of cloud computing.
Data Center People: attracting talent & exploring the skills shortage
✅ Great career paths, an innovative industry, above average salaries, a booming market. Yet the influx of new talent in the data center industry is low. What is going on?

The Big Debate: Building a support base for sustainable data center growth in Finland
✅ The Netherlands is one of the top data center markets in Europe, but lack of a central strategy put local municipalities in charge of decisions that could seriously impact the entire country. This led to messy procedures, lawsuits, resulting in a series of critical newspaper articles.
The avalanche of bad news more or less forced the Dutch government to impose a nine-month moratorium on the building of new (internatational) hyperscale data centres, while new planning regulations are worked out. We see this in multiple countries over Europe and with this end-of-day panel - live from Helsinki - we will ask how Finland can avoid the Dutch dilemma. Because if it shows one thing it's that a scenario for sustainable data center growth can only succeed if it has the support of Finnish society, backed by the active involvement of the government.
