Data Center Changemakers Denmark – Episode 1
Live talk show with the people who will change the face of the data center industry. Presented by Liselotte Lyngsø, Founder of Future Navigator.
Data & Energy
- ✅ What is the definition of green energy? How do you measure green energy?
- ✅ Energy markets have never been more volatile. This August the Nordic Council of Ministers chose Rambøll to map energy security, -pricing & -supply for the Nordic region. We'll discuss the preliminary findings and ask how they might impact the data center industry in the Nordics.
✅ Early September the EU announced ambitious plans to transform the North Sea into a green powerhouse. Is this a golden opportunity to build a sustainable green digital backbone for Europe? Ørsted & GlobalConnect have a plan.
✅ Heat recovery: an overview of successful projects all over the Nordics and a case study of the new Danfoss headquarters in Denmark, which will be partly heated by excess hear from their own data centers. What is the next step in data center heat re-use?
Guests include Olivier Corradi (Founder & CEO, Electricity Maps), Ask Tonsgaard Hjordt Brüel (Strategic Consultant, Rambøll), Leif Winther (Chief Market Developer, Ørsted), Sofia Lisa Dinesen (Director of Sustainability, GlobalConnect), Jakob Jul Jensen (Director Datacenter Development Danfoss), David Gyulnazaryan (OCP representative) and John Booth (Committee member EU Code of Conduct for Datacenters, Carbon3IT).
Towards a Circular Data Center Economy
✅ Life Cycle Assessment. By including the entirety of data centre’s life cycle, it is possible to keep track of where the main impacts stem from in the data center value chain. This will impact future data center design, build & operations in a way that everybody in the industry needs to understand.
✅ Energy usage isn't the only way that data centers can tackle their carbon footprint. Quite possibly it's not even the most important one. We take a close look at everything you need to know about embodied carbon & Scope 3 emissions. With special attention for the major impact the EU taxonomy for sustainable activities will have on the entire data center value chain.
✅ IT asset disposition (ITAD); reusing, recycling, repurposing, repairing or disposing unwanted IT equipment in a safe and environmentally responsible way. A case study, introducing the innovative Danish platform Novitio
With guests Sofia Lisa Dinesen (Committee Member Green Transition, IT-Branchen and Director of Sustainability, GlobalConnect), Ali Moinuddin, Chief Corporate Development Officer, Uptime Institute) Anders Bech Jensen (Creative Director & Partner, Novitio), Anders Mathiesen (Director Datacenter Operations, GlobalConnect) and John Booth (Committee member EU Code of Conduct for Datacenters, Carbon3IT).
Future of Compute - Why is Huawei an active member of the OCP Foundation? |
Openness is an inevitable trend in IT development. Since specialized, closed platforms came into being, the industry has worked to open up and standardize various IT resources, including computing, storage, and network resources. Huawei's Henrik Børling will be joined on stage by Stefan Frenzel and David Gyulnazaryan, both representing the Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP). |
The Danish Datacenter Industry: steady growth in shaky times. What's next? |
We investigate the key challenges DataCenter projects raise in regarding the application of HVAC solutions and how a holistic solution approach can provide both benefits at the design stage and ongoing operation of the system.
Datacenter Cabling: What is needed for a successful datacenter project? |
Creating a Sustainability Strategy |
Uptime Institute have developed a series of reports that definitive a strategic and practical guide for Digital Infrastructure Sustainability. This presentation will discuss defining the key elements to include in a sustainability strategy, the actions necessary for a successful implementation, and the processes required to measure progress against goals and objectives. |
Improving data centre operational efficiency using DCIM, illustrated using customer reviews and case studies |
Sunbird Software is changing the way data centres are being managed. With a focus on real user scenarios for real customer problems, we help data centre operators manage tasks and processes faster and more efficiently than ever before, while saving money and improving availability. Come and see how Data Centre Infrastructure Management software with inbuilt powerful monitoring and control, helps to reduce risk and increase efficiencies of people, process and technology. |
Working in the Datacenter Industry: 30+ different job roles based on 40 data centre competences for life
A bird’s-eye view of 30+ different job roles in the data center industry and the competences you’ll need to fulfill these jobs in the datacenter industry. Based on EPI’s DCCF® - Data Centre Competence Framework
AI and high-performance computing are pushing liquid cooling to re-enter the datacenter
It's been a long time coming, but liquid cooling is finally positioned and ready to penetrate the larger ecosystem, as some predicted it would do 15 years ago. The re-entering of liquid cooling will clearly also have an effect on a greener, more efficient way of cooling datacenters, and reuse of residual heat.
Management and Strategies for Hybrid and Multi-Cloud envirmonments
According to the Flexera 2021 State of the Cloud Report, 92 percent of respondents are using a hybrid & multi-cloud model. This means the number of platforms, devices, users, services, and locations multiplies exponentially. The focus lies on managing these complex hybrid IT environments, but there is a huge opportunity for companies that embrace these complex environments and leverage them into new & innovative business models.

Hybrid IT
✅ During the last years more and more companies have adopted various cloud solutions. During the same period these companies have also discovered the value of keeping their business critical data in house in a micro data center. A strategy on where to put business critical data is crucial for organisations; just like you don’t place your new sportscar under a chestnut tree, you don’t place your micro data center in the broom closet. Things to consider: who has access to the data? Are the data physically surveilled? It's up to the data center professionals to decide.
Guests include Finn Vagner (CEO Danish Cloud Community), Rasmus Knappe (Datacenter Cloud Solutions Architect Manager, Microsoft), Isabelle Kemlin (Swedish Datacenter Industry) and Kristian Kofoed-Solheim (Business Development Director, BULK).
Data Center People: attracting talent & exploring the skills shortage
✅ Great career paths, an innovative industry, above average salaries, a booming market. Yet the influx of new talent in the data center industry is low. What is going on?
Guests: John Booth (Technical Director National Datacenter Academy), Jeanette Hartz (CEO Dansk IT), Isabelle Kemlin (Swedish Datacenter Industry) and Arnth Nielsen (Chairman Skills & Education, Danish Datacenter Industry
