The Luxembourg-based Cube Infrastructure Managers, which invests in infrastructure, has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in the Swedish data center company Glesys. The data center company was previously owned by Via Equity Fund III, CEO and founder Glenn Johansson, and other key personnel in the company, who will continue to be minority owners after the change of ownership. The fact that Glesys data centers use 100 percent renewable energy and also recycle waste heat to heat residential buildings is an important aspect for Cube.
"Cube invests in companies with sustainable infrastructure that can meet the increasing demand in the market. Thanks to the quality of its services and investments, Glesys is in a very strong position to meet the needs of digital infrastructure for small and medium-sized businesses in the Nordics. We look forward to working with Glenn Johansson and his team to further develop the business", says Stéphane Calas, partner at Cube Infrastructure Managers, about the acquisition in a press release.
"Over the past few years, Via has been an incredibly supportive venture capital owner for us, playing a crucial role in our growth. I look forward to embarking on the next stage with Cube, which is the ideal partner for Glesys", says Glenn Johansson in a comment.
