Interxion: A Digital Realty Company, announced that the construction of a new data center in Denmark has begun with a total capacity of almost 7,000 sqm and 14.4 megawatts . First phase of approx. 2,300 sqm is expected to be ready for use in early 2022.
CPH3 is being built as an extension of Interxion's two existing data centers in Copenhagen, CPH1 and CPH2, and is a strategic expansion of PlatformDIGITAL ® in Denmark. Here, Interxion's customers will have access to one of the best connected data and network hubs in the Nordic region, from where they will be able to develop and implement critical infrastructure. Customers will also have access to Digital Realty's global platform, PlatformDIGITAL ® , which covers data centers in 24 countries across six continents.
Digital Realty recently published the Data Gravity Index DGx ™ , which shows how data is increasingly accumulating in specific nodes, which then attract even larger amounts of data. The index also shows that the amount of data will grow faster in the EMEA region than in North America, Asia and the Pacific, just as Digital Realty expects the data appeal to double every year until 2024.
Data Gravity Index DGx ™ 1.5 analyzes the data attractiveness across more than 20 different industries and 50 major cities worldwide, including Copenhagen.
“Data volumes are rising like never before, and a lot of data is being moved in recent years from internal data centers to cloud and colocation. Compared with the exponential increase in the amount of data, there is therefore an increased need for companies to utilize the data appeal and implement their critical infrastructure in key data nodes, ”says Peder Bank, Nordic Director of Interxion, and continues:
“Interxion in Copenhagen is a data hub in digital Denmark, where companies have a unique opportunity to connect and develop their business. With PlatformDIGITAL ® and the many network connections, companies can reach 80 per cent. of Europe's GDP in less than 25 milliseconds (RTD). "
Interxion's data center in Ballerup, Copenhagen offers direct access to Azure ExpressRoute, which makes it possible to expand its on-premise network to Microsoft cloud via dark fiber, which Interxion - as the only data center in Denmark - offers. Customers also get dedicated access to AWS Cloud via AWS Direct Connect , just as Interxion provides access to 60 different networks and ISPs, four internet exchanges, the transatlantic submarine cable AEC-2 and all leading global cloud providers.
