Conapto is now doubling the capacity of their Stockholm North facility in Sollentuna. When completed, it will have a total capacity of 3,400 square meters, 900 rack spaces and a total power of 6 MW. The entire plant is also certified as climate neutral, which means that it runs on 100 % renewable fossil free wind power — and has heat reuse to district heating. The expansion of the site is expected to be launched during the first half of 2021.
The company writes on its website: During recent years we have seen new and stricter legislation on secure data management through both the GDPR, the NIS directive and the new Swedish Security Protection Act which — in combination with IT environments becoming more and more business-critical — results in companies setting higher requirements for the physical security in and around their data center. This includes anything from shell protection in Protection Class 3 to new requirements on how fences, motion detectors, video surveillance and access control systems should protect a data center in a modern, efficient and secure way.
“Sustainable, secure and agile colocation is our core business. This, combined with a modern business model with flexible agreements and the fact that we are a Swedish-owned operator-neutral supplier with two interconnected data centers in Stockholm, actually makes us completely unique in the market. The expansion and upgrade to Protection Class 3 as well as extended perimeter protection is completely in line with our ambition to constantly listen to our customers’ and the market’s demand in order to be able to quickly adapt and develop our offering. We already launched a new computer room in the existing facility in protection class 3 earlier this spring and it is more or less sold out. A clear signal that a focus on security and a strong sustainability profile is top of mind for many companies and organizations”, says Håkan Björklund, CEO of Conapto.
Reinforced perimeter protection
Conapto’s second facility, Stockholm Syd in Sätra, has previously been upgraded with reinforced perimeter protection and shell protection in Protection Class 3, which means that Conapto can now offer two complete data centers in Protection Class 3. Combined with the fact that Conapto is a Swedish company without international ownership interests and has a modern business model without lock-in, they can provide a completely unique colocation offer for companies and organizations with very high demands on security, sustainability and flexibility.
“This is our largest investment yet to have been made. The building is already in place and work has begun on making the 1700sqm and 2 MW of available electricity into a ready-to-move-in data center. As we are out early, there is also an opportunity for companies that want to make an establishment in the new data center to be able to be involved and influence parts of design and layout. We want to work closely with our customers and have a partnership based on mutual trust”, concludes Håkan Björklund.
